Pongee silk is an evenly woven light-weight silk, ideal for a wide variety of silk painting techniques. The thinner weight has excellent drape and is very floaty. Pongee silk has a smooth texture, similar to habotai silk. This is an ideal weight for microwave scarf dyeing. Works well with silk dyes (Procion H) and silk paints (Liquid Colours). All pongee silk scarves are 5mm in weight and 100% silk. Edges are hand-finished.
2024 UPDATE - Due to price increases, we have phased out this fabric choice from our scarf selection except one size. Please consider 8mm Habotai Scarves as prices are more stable. If you are wanting 5mm going forward, it will be by custom production only.
