Ming's
Silk Paintings
12" x 18".
Framed with Japanese paper.
My busband and
his buddies pay their annual trip to the Great Lakes in the
summer time, seeking and diving on various shipwrecks. Last
year I went to join in them in the adventure and snorked around
a shipwreck near Georgian Bay. The experience inspired me
to paint subjects on diving, shipwreck exploring and marine
animals.
This painting is
composited with the imaginary tropical oceanic scene, with
a diver exploring the blue water and playing with marine animals.

Old
trucks have a lot of personality--They end up looking like
their owners. I like to photograph them on small farms and
hidden away backyards. I make a sketch from the photos and
transfer that drawing to a piece of silk. Hot wax is used
to keep the dyes from flowing together. Silk painting is a
little like watercolor painting. The silk is steamed for 3
hours in a stainless steel chamber to set the dyes. I then
quilt the painting and frame it in a simple shadow box moulding.
Dyes on raw silk.
40" x 60" Quilted, black shadowbox frame. $1,100
